Wholesale Pallets – Affordable Bulk Rate Goods!

May 18th, 2010

When manufacturers produce too much of any single item and they are unable to unload it all, they often end up selling the surplus to smaller wholesale companies. These wholesale pallets are then offered to customers at a deep discount. In this article we are going to discuss wholesale merchandise pallets and where to find them.

But before we begin, it is important to explain what a pallet actually is. Specifically, a pallet is a wooden platform used to load freight or cargo. They are commonly loaded onto trucks that carry them to their intended destination. Wholesale pallets, on the other hand, seldom reach their intended destination, at least not at first. They are almost always the result of inaccurate estimates from retailers who suddenly decide that they cannot sell a particular item.

Where do you find wholesale electronic pallets and wholesale clothing pallets? Just a few years ago, overstock pallets were only available at huge wholesale outlets scattered across the nation. These stores purchased wholesale pallets at salvage, closeouts and liquidation sales. In short, when other stores went out of business, they would buy up their wholesale pallets at discounted prices and offer them to consumers at a slightly higher price.

Why do companies sell wholesale pallets? Well, as we mentioned some stores simply order too much and they then send truckloads of items back to the manufacturer when they determine that they cannot sell them for a profit.

For example, let’s say a large home improvement center purchases too many wholesale tools pallets. They can then return them to the manufacturer, who will most likely accept them because they don’t want to lose business. But what does the manufacturer do with truckloads of wholesale pallets? They certainly don’t want to pay to store them all. The only viable option they have is to sell wholesale pallets.

Stores that sell wholesale pallets customarily buy in bulk and mark the items up ten or fifteen percent. But even after a small markup, customers receive incredible deals at stores that sell wholesale items. If you have ever traveled to a wholesale outlet, then you probably know what we mean.

These stores are often situated in the middle of nowhere, but they still don’t have to do any advertising. Owners know that business will always be brisk because shoppers will always come for amazing savings.

In recent years, a number of stores have started selling their wholesale pallets on the internet. But is it better to buy these overstocked items online or in the store? Well, it really does depend on where you live. If you have access to a wholesale outlet, it is probably cheaper to simply visit the location in person rather than ordering online. After all, shipping costs are quite expensive, even in state. But if you are hours away from the nearest location and you only want an item or two, it might be cheaper to order online.
